The NOC Lady Jets dropped their first game of the season Monday night losing a hard fought game against Eastern 91-84.
NOC (1-1) was led by Lauren Wade with 28 points.
Hollie Wood and Aleisha Hester had 15 points each while Madelyn Hankins also reached double figures with 10.
Coach Kelli Jennings was proud the Lady Jets' effort.
"We talked in the locker room after the game, "fix the fixables." We fouled too much and gave up too many transition points," Jennings said. "We fix those aspects, we have a good chance when we see Eastern again. While I felt there were several positives throughout the game, what stood out to me the most was our effort on the floor; I thought we played hard until the very end."
The largest lead for either was the seven point final margin. NOC last led the Lady Mountaineers 65-63 on a short jumper by Hollie Wood in the 3rd quarter.
Eastern then took the lead late in the period taking a 67-65 lead to the final quarter.
In the final period, Eastern would build a small lead and NOC would battle back. A Lauren Wade jumper with 1:07 left cut the Eastern lead to 85-82 but Eastern hit six straight free throws down the stretch to win 91-84.
The Lady Jets host Seminole Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
