NOC Enid outlasted Independence (KS) 110-102 in overtime Monday night at the Mabee Center.
The two teams punched and counter punched all evening as neither team could build any sizeable lead. Finally, the Jets were able to extend an overtime lead hitting 12 of 15 free throws in the extra period.
"We Knew the game would be a good non conference test for us against a good team," said Jets coach Chris Gerber. "I felt like both teams kept trading punches and the lead went back and forth. We made some costly turnovers at times but in the final minutes we executed and got good shots and got stops on the defensive end when it mattered."
Monday's win improved the Jets' record to 5-1 on the season.
KeJuan Payne led the Jets with 31 points while Grant Barnard added 20. Oryne Stewart added 19 and Gavin Barnard 18 for the Jets.
NOC Enid shot 58% from the floor and 20% from 3-point range. The Jets were 75% (39-52) from the line.
NOC Enid travels to Great Bend, Kansas, for games against Colby (KS) and Barton (KS) Friday and Saturday.
