EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Darian Grant had 16 points off the NOC Enid Jet bench leading the Jets past Howard (TX) 72-71 at the Mike Mitchell Elite 8 Classic at UCO in Edmond.

The Jets (2-0) face Missouri West Plains Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the second game of the classic.

"This was a real physical game and we were able to adjust defensively and play hard defense without fouling," said Jets coach Chris Gerber.  "We shared the ball on the offensive end and think we had 17 assists on our 26 FGM."

Dontrell Yearby added 14 while Gavin Barnard and KeJuan Payne added 12 each.   Grant and Barnard led the team with seven rebounds each while Barnard had three assists.

The Jets shot 45% from the floor and 43% from 3-point range.  NOC Enid was 21-35 (60%) from the foul line.

NOC Enid is at home Friday at the Mabee Center against Allen (KS) at 6 p.m.
