NOC Enid blasted out to a big lead and then held on for an 11-9 win over Murray State Friday in the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament in Enid.
The Jets built a big lead scoring four straight innings to take an 8-2 lead into the 8th inning. NOC Enid then added three more in the 8th to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
Murray State then bounced back with seven runs in the 8th to cut the Jets lead to 11-9.
Jet reliever Barrett Herr got out of a huge jam in the 8th stranding the tying runs aboard.
Ben Lindsey did the same in the 9th as the Aggies loaded the bases with one out. Lindsey entered the game and induced a Jake Ervin to Brock Boddie, and to Lucas Dunn game ending double play ground ball.
Jonathan Silva (9-4) was outstanding allowing just two runs on four hits over seven innings as the starter.
Ervin, Bryan Williams, and Noah Smith led a 15 hit attack with three hits each, Smith has four runs batted in. Ervin, Williams, and Cade Christensen scored three runs each.
Brock Boddie and Lucas Dunn had two hits each.
What's Next: The Jets face South Ark Friday at 4 p.m. The winner advances to the tournament final at 3 p.m. Saturday. The loser drops to the consolation bracket at noon Saturday.
