TONKAWA, Okla. -- NOC Enid scored 31 runs in a doubleheader sweep of NOC Tonkawa at Maverick Field on Thursday.
In the first game, Connor Cavnar homered twice, tripled, and drove in six runs in a 14-3 five-inning run rule over NOC Tonkawa.
Cade Christensen and Noah Smith added two hits each. Jake Ervin added two hits and scored three runs. Maddox Lawson (2-0) earned the win with three innings of one-run relief striking out four. Bennett Percival and Barrett Herr also worked from the mound.
The Jets jumped out to a 9-2 lead and were never threatened scoring in four of the five innings.
In Game 2, the Jets outslugged NOC Tonkawa 17-14.
Brock Boddie led the Jets attack with three doubles and three runs scored. Lucas Dunn had two hits and three runs batted in while Noah Smith added four runs batted in.
Jackson Papenfus (3-1) earned the win with three innings of two run relief. Papenfus was one of five NOC hurlers on Thursday.
The Jets scored in six of the nine innings against the Mavericks.
What's Next: The Jets (22-9) host NOC Tonkawa Saturday at 4 p.m./6:30 p.m. at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. The Jets are now 2-4 in conference play.
